Why Does My Job Offer PTO But My Manager Says I Don't?Answers: https://lnkd.in/gdiQz6Vt #JobBenefits #PTO #HRQuestionsHey everyone! ๐ I recently started a new job and during training, I came across something a bit confusing in my offer letter. It states that Iโm eligible for 15 days of paid time off (PTO) each year, which sounds great, right? But when I brought this up with my manager and supervisor, they mentioned that we donโt actually have that benefit. ๐ค Now I'm wondering if that means there was a mistake in the offer letter. Here are some pain points that often come up in these situations:Miscommunication: Sometimes, HR or management may not be on the same page about benefits, leading to mixed messages. Employee Trust: If there are discrepancies between whatโs stated in the offer letter and whatโs communicated later, it can erode trust. Planning: PTO is a big deal for many employees, as itโs essential for work-life balance; inconsistency can make planning difficult. Possible Solutions:Clarify with HR: Reach out directly to HR for clarification about the PTO policy. They should have the official info!Document Everything: Keep records of conversati...

Do you take ALL of your PTO every year? It is interesting to see how many people do not use their PTO in the US verse our counterparts around the world. Does it start with companies not giving enough time off or is it a matter of employees feeling obligated to work more for their employers? Maybe it is individual motivation to get ahead and prove yourself? From a recent article: "Countries like the U.K. have a statutory requirement entitling staff to 28 paid days of leave a yearโif you're a full time employee. In the U.S. it is not a legal requirement for staff to be given any paid time off, howeveraccording to the Bureau of Labor Statisticsthe average employee who is in their first year of service takes eight PTO days."-ForbesI will admit when starting my career and up until five years ago I did not take that much time off from work. My desire and drive to always do more and the fact that I enjoyed working made me feel like I was not missing anything. Honestly though, once I started taking time off and unplugging from work I had not realized how much I needed to relax and recharge. As we are in spring and soon summer I encourage everyone to look at your calendar and plan time off to enjoy yourself and experience the outdoors and nature if you can. There is something soothing to the soul about being outside!I will be traveling on Sunday to Vegas to ISM World and if you are attending this event next week message me if you want to connect and share backgrounds and success stories. Maybe we can even break away for a hike in Red Rock Canyon as it is on my list ๐ #procurement #WeAreISM #procurementleaders #indirectprocurement #sourcing #supplychain #womeninprocurement #ISM #technology #hr

I was offered a VP job with 10 days of PTO. TEN DAYS. That includes sick AND vacation time. When I tried to negotiate, I was told they are a public company so they couldn't offer different PTO options (umm.. I've worked for 3 public companies; PTO is negotiable). When I asked if I could get in writing that I could take 1-2 more weeks of unpaid time, I was told no. They canโt accommodate not paying me. The CEO also told me that she wished they had better work/life balance, and she knows it's hard especially working working parents.I should have stopped right there, but I was in a job at the time I was ready to leave and I secretly hoped they would be open to accommodating (they werenโt) The hiring manager assured me she is flexible with time, but I learned long ago if it's not in writing, it's not real. The best part? The agency recruiter who I was working with told me she needed an answer the same day the offer was made. I told her I wanted to negotiate the PTO. She told me they wouldnโt. I declined the opportunity, stayed at my job for a while longer and they lost a potential employee that would work as hard as anyone theyโve hired. As Summer is upon us and I work hard to find harmony with my kidโs schedules and work Iโm reminded of how important flexibility is. Iโm reminded of how important negotiations are. Iโm reminded of how important advocating for yourself is and knowing what youโre willing to accept and not is. Sadly, for those who are laid off, you donโt feel you have that power as much because you NEED a job. Sometimes thatโs the hardest part of all. I was fortunate to be working and able to make that decision to stay no. But Iโve been laid off where I canโt. Even in a rough job market, know your non-negotiables and employers treat your people well! Being decent isnโt hard. Be a good human#negotiations #workingmom #PTO #worklifeharmony

This was a topic of conversation a few years ago and it is making a come back. What are your thoughts on this topic? As an HR Professional/Hiring Manager, Are you enhancing your benefits package to stay competitive? A few statistics to share: Between 2019-2023 Unlimited PTO increased by 40% On average, people with unlimited PTO use about 13 days a year compare to the 15 days for a normal PTO policy. ... So, people are taking less time off in some cases. Interesting ๐ค #HR #benefits #hiring https://lnkd.in/eYhgn5Sq

In the near future this story by Sherri Carpineto will be completely different - thankfully! The job description will say: โJob X available at Company Y. Company Y has a leading team with an average - HRV of 20-40 ms - RHR of 55-65 bpm - sleep recovery of 65 %โ ๐คฏFor those unfamiliar with these scores, they indicate that your nervous system is overstimulated, you're not getting enough sleep, and stress is significantly affecting your body, ultimately costing you days of your life.๐ฑAnd if they were really honest, it should say: โEveryoneโs scores declined by at least 15% within the first year they started here!โ ๐Now that would be a game changer! If instead for fancy words like โWe take care of our people with blablablaโฆโ it had objective numbers. ๐And of course, not a single company would let that happen, so they would hire an expert in Biometric based optimalisation like me, 2-3 years before to improve those score to ensure they wouldnโt look stupid and showed their true colours and how little they care about their Humans. 2-3 years before is NOW โ๏ธTransform your leadership and company culture with biometric-based health strategies. Book a free call with me to explore how you can integrate biometrics into your employee care programs and be prepared with a high standard for corporate well-being when it will be the most important measure of your businessโs future. #BiometricBasedCoach #Leadership #CorporateWellbeing #FutureOfWork
